Numerical Study of Train-induced Pressure on Platform Screen Doors of a Subway Station

Abstract We numerically investigate the train-induced transient pressure on platform screen doors (PSDs) of an island-type in a subway station according to real scenarios and full-scale simulation enhance understanding design safe operation trains. Two typical cases, namely, non-stop chasing were examined, with train’s speed variation well simulated throughout both cases. In case, train passes through without stopping; stops at while another subsequent approaches tunnel, which inevitably happens during rush hours. It is observed that generates compression wave when it tunnel’s ventilation shaft, similar what occurs entering tunnel. PSDs experience two positive one negative extremes whole process. The first peak results from oncoming second peaks arise due passing head tail, respectively. stopped leads blockage effect significantly increases via wave. This lateral may result failure proper PSDs, particularly hours, lasting for roughly 5.7 seconds. also found that, compared fully sealed PSD, half-height partial porous can reduce load caused by head, its maximum reduced 38.7% 38.2%, Therefore, if PSD too high structural design, consider use as alternative.
